Informational pre-check only — not an official review. A licensed Professional Engineer must review and stamp your construction documents.

HX — HOMEOWNER XPERIENCE · RESIDENTIAL PLAN PRE-CHECK

HX — Homeowner Xperience. Find out what might fail inspection — before you build.

Upload your plans and tell us where you're building. HX reads your house plans, checks them against the building codes for your exact ZIP code, and shows you — in plain English — what's likely to pass, what needs a second look, and what could stop your project cold.

HX (scadUP Home) is an informational pre-check, not an official plan review or a substitute for a licensed Professional Engineer. Your local building department has the final say.

01 / HX — HOW IT WORKS

From "I hope this passes" to "I know what to fix" — in five steps.

  1. Location

Enter your address or ZIP code. We identify your state code, the code edition your jurisdiction has adopted, and any local amendments that apply to your lot.

  2. Upload

Drag in your plans. PDFs, photos from your phone, even a hand-drawn sketch on graph paper. Tag each sheet (floor plan, electrical, plumbing…) or let us auto-detect.

  3. AI Analysis

Our engine reads your drawings, extracts dimensions and details, and checks them against the code requirements that apply where you're building.

  4. Results

Get a visual, color-coded report: green for looks-good, yellow for check-this, red for likely-problem. Every finding comes with a plain-English explanation and the code section behind it.

  5. Next Steps

Fix the easy stuff yourself, then connect with a licensed Professional Engineer to review, correct, and stamp your drawings so they're ready for the permit office.

02 / HX — WHAT YOU GET

Built for homeowners, not plan reviewers.

Know what applies

  • Smart jurisdiction engine

One ZIP code is all we need. We map it to your state building code, the adopted edition, and local amendments — because the code in your county isn't always the code in the book.

  • Code references, linked

Each finding cites the exact code section it's based on, with a link where the jurisdiction publishes it — so you (or your engineer) can verify everything yourself.

See what needs attention

  • Visual markups you can actually read

Your own plans, marked up in color: red for likely violations, yellow for items to verify, green for what checks out. No decoder ring required.

  • Severity levels

Every finding is ranked Critical / Major / Minor / Recommendation, so you know what could stop your permit versus what's just worth tidying up.

  • Confidence score on every finding

We tell you how sure we are. A 95%-confidence red flag and a 60%-confidence yellow flag deserve different reactions, and we never pretend otherwise.

    CONFIDENCE 88%

Upload what you have

  • One upload, every discipline

Structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy — upload once and get findings across all of them (Full Review and Premium).

  • Sketches and phone photos welcome

No CAD file? No problem. We handle hand-drawn plans and photos of paper drawings. Cleaner input gives sharper results, but you don't need an architect to get started.

Know what to do next

  • Plain-English explanations

    Not "R311.7.5.1 noncompliance." Instead:

"Your stair risers measure about 8.5 inches — most codes cap them at 7¾ inches. Taller risers are a trip hazard and a common inspection failure."

  • Suggested fixes with cost ranges

Where we can, each finding includes a practical fix and a ballpark cost range, so you can budget before the inspector ever shows up.

  • Exportable PDF report

Download a clean, professional report to share with your builder, your engineer, or your permit office.

  • Anonymous PE review option

Want human eyes before you commit? Have a licensed Professional Engineer review your results — no sales pitch, no obligation, your contact details stay private until you choose to connect.

04 / HX — FAQ

Questions homeowners actually ask

Is this an official plan review?

No. scadUP Home is an informational pre-check. Only your local building department can approve your plans, and most projects require construction documents reviewed and stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer. What we do is help you find likely problems before you spend money on permits, engineering, and construction — so the official process goes smoother.

Do I still need an engineer or architect?

For most permitted construction, yes. Our job is to make that step cheaper and faster: you show up to the engineer with a marked-up plan and a findings list instead of a blank stare. Premium includes a 30-minute call with a licensed PE, and we can connect you with one for full review and stamping.

What codes do you check against?

The building code your jurisdiction has actually adopted — including the specific edition and local amendments — identified from your ZIP code and address. If we can't confidently determine your jurisdiction's rules, we tell you rather than guess.

What file types can I upload?

PDFs, JPG/PNG photos, and scans. Hand-drawn plans and phone photos of paper drawings work too. Clearer, flatter, well-lit images give better results.

How accurate is the analysis?

Every finding carries a confidence score, and we show our work with code references. Automated analysis is a powerful first pass, but it can miss things and it can flag things that turn out fine — that's exactly why a licensed PE must review your documents before you build. Treat our report as a well-informed head start, not a verdict.

How long does it take?

Most scans finish within minutes of upload. Larger sets or hard-to-read images can take longer, and Premium video calls are scheduled at your convenience after your results are ready.

What if my plans are hand-drawn?

Bring them on. We support sketches and photos of paper plans. We'll extract what we can read and clearly mark anything we couldn't interpret, so you know what was and wasn't checked.

Will you share my plans with anyone?

Not without your say-so. Your plans and results are private. The anonymous PE review option shares only your drawings and findings — your name and contact details stay hidden until you choose to connect.

What happens after I get my results?

Three common paths: fix minor items yourself, take the report to your builder, or click "Get it stamped" and we'll connect you with a licensed Professional Engineer who can correct and stamp your drawings for permit submission.

Can I get a refund if my plans come back clean?

Clean results are the good news, not a defect — the report confirming it is what you paid for. If something goes wrong on our side (failed analysis, unreadable results we didn't warn you about), contact support and we'll make it right.
